B.S. in Information Technology (BSIT)
Information Technology (IT) is the "practitioner focused" discipline within the field of computing.

In addition to the general university requirements (GURs) and program core courses, all students take the required 12 concentration courses of their choice. The 129-credit curriculum is complemented by specialization and general electives chosen in consultation with the academic advisor.

BSIT Electives
IT Elective courses can be selected from all IT courses listed in the NJIT Undergraduate Catalog.
There are also a number of Special Topics courses on areas like Digital Forensics, Privacy and IT, Digital Crime and Game Development that are not yet listed as regular courses but are
offered regularly.
The objectives of the Information Technology program are to prepare the student so that three to five years after completing the program, the graduate will:
- Be working as a computing professional, utilizing the knowledge acquired in the BS in Information Technology program.
- Be engaged in the computing profession and utilize professional skills to make a positive impact on society.
- Have participated in further professional development, employing the learning skills taught in the Information Technology program.
Graduates of the program will the ability to:
- Analyze a complex computing problem and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.
- Design, implement, and evaluate a computer-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program's discipline.
- Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts.
- Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles.
- Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program's discipline.
- Identify and analyze user needs and to take them into account in the selection, creation, integration, evaluation, and administration of computing-based systems.
